Nakkerinvitational Dodges the Weather

The snow finally made its appearance again in National Capital District just in time to grant the Nakkertok Classic Invitational a reprieve after a  delay of one day. Ski conditions at Nakkertok were decidedly dodgey earlier in the week and event organizers decided to postpone the race by one day with the promise of the 10 cm of snow that arrived on Saturday. Kanata-Chelsea Time Trial Sat-Jan-8th

Saturday the 8th of January saw lots of new snow on the ground and several new Kanata Racers testing themselves in the Gatineau Park. A friendly time trial was organized by Chelsea Nordiq coach Maurice Samm and Kanata Nordic coach Mike Duivenvoorden. The event started on the busy Gatineau Parkway was at the top of hill 240 south of P5. The time trial distances were 3 and 5 km and the course ran south on Gatineau Parkway toward Mica. Canadian Sprint Victory in Tour de Ski

Sudbury native Devon Kershaw is a World Beater in Cross-Country Ski Sprints with victory in a 1.3 kilometre sprint in Toblach, Italy, the fifth stage of the gruelling 10-day, eight stage Tour de Ski. Kershaw, who finished second in New Year's Day's second stage in Oberhof, Germany and second again a day later in stage three at Obertshof, Germany, now trails only Switzerland's Dario Cologna in the overall standings. Kanata Nordic Racers at First Ontario Cup Event of the 2010-11 Ski Season

The weekend of December 18th & 19th saw four Kanata Nordic Racers athletes competing at the first Ontario Cup race weekend of the season at Highlands Nordic Ski Centre in Duntroon, near Collingwood, Ontario.
