New Trial Trail
We’re launching an experiment!
Kanata Nordic is reaching out to the local community by grooming the National Capital Commission (NCC)’ 5.5 km Watts Creek Pathway from where it intersects with Corkstown Rd. at Moodie Dr. to March Rd. (map below). This is a trial season for grooming this public trail, powered by Kanata Nordic’s volunteer labour, club membership fees and equipment, with the support of the NCC.
Please note that Kanata Nordic will only be grooming the Pathway on a “best efforts” basis for the rest of this winter, but it will not be on a regular schedule. Watts Creek is a multi-use trail, which means we will welcome walkers, snowbikers, dogs, skiers, snowshoers, and commuters. Please try to preserve the classic tracks by avoiding walking, snowshoeing or biking on them – and be polite when chatting to other trail users who may be new to winter trail etiquette.
Please note that the the regularly groomed 17 kilometres of Kanata Nordic sites at Wesley Clover Parks (both 401 and 411 Corkstown Rd.) remain ski-only (except our dedicated snowshoe trail at 411), and limited to club members and day pass users.
If you’re a Watts Creek trail user who could volunteer to help make it a more permanent trail or provide offseason development, then Kanata Nordic wants to hear from you. Email wattscreek@kanatanordic.ca
